Description

This is an IIBA endorsed course, dedicated to studying the “Requirements Life Cycle Management” knowledge area of the BABOK Guide 3.0. The training discusses the tasks of tracing and maintaining requirements, as well as on prioritizing, approving, and reusing them. It explains the use of requirement patterns and addresses the matters of requirements change management.

The BABOK Guide is an internationally recognized standard for the practice of business analysis. It summarizes the experience of leading business analysts around the world and describes 30 major tasks of business analysis, along with 50 techniques that are commonly used for solving these tasks.

The major challenge with self-studying the BABOK Guide is that, while describing the typical tasks of business analysis, it does not explain when and how one should perform these tasks. It assumes that business analysts will be able to answer these questions on their own, based on their personal experience and specifics of a particular project. Besides that, the BABOK Guide provides very few examples that might help analysts relate the theoretical knowledge to their daily practice.

The purpose of this course is to overcome that challenge. A systematic explanation of business analysis planning and monitoring tasks is accompanied by detailed information based on real-life examples from both the instructor’s personal experience and best practices. The course takes into consideration the specifics of planning business analysis in Agile approaches. Participants will perform various training exercises that help consolidate their understanding. Besides that, within the course, we will discuss how to prepare for the IIBA certification and explore multiple examples of certification exam questions.

Objectives

The primary objective of this course is to provide an understanding and develop skills for solving the tasks of requirements life cycle management, as they are described in the BABOK Guide 3.0. Besides, the course is intended to help with the certification process through a better understanding of the BABOK Guide content and certification exam questions.

Target Audience

The course is oriented towards business analysis practitioners and other specialists who are involved in maintaining and managing requirements. It can be of particular interest to those who are planning to complete level 2 or 3 of the IIBA certification.

Prerequisites

Participants are expected to have a good grasp of the key concepts of business analysis and generic stakeholder roles, ability to distinguish different types of requirements, and ability to tell requirements from designs, as well as at least one year of experience with eliciting, documenting, or analyzing requirements.

We highly recommend completing an introductory course on business analysis before attending this one. A good command of English (knowing the professional vocabulary and reading professional literature fluently) would be a benefit.
